The 2009 Mixed Traffic Weekend took place over 12,13 and 14 June. I was there on Sat 13th and Sun 14th - not very mixed but it did have the new A1 'Tornado'

Back again for the Spring Steam Gala on 21st and 22nd March. Weather brilliant, steam all the way, 9 coach trains mostly all hauled by big engines - pity about Royal Scot though

Another visit to the WSR for the Autumn Steam Gala from 2nd to 5th October 2008 plus a DMU ride on Monday 6th. The first gala with the turntable in operation, but with no advance warning of turning moves, it was pot luck which way the locos were facing.

A mid-week visit in July 2008 originally to see 60019 Bittern but the tour was cancelled as the turntable is not yet commissioned. Still a good couple of days with steam and diesel double-headed on the first day. Champion!

The 2008 Mixed Traffic Weekend was a bit of a letdown with no Westerns no Hymeks and on Saturday morning the Warship failed! Nice weekend , decent weather, good beer and a splendid curry but not many Western Region diesels. Has it put me off the Wizzer? Not likely!

Another visit to the WSR for the Spring Steam Gala on 15th/16th March. Bad choice as the weather was awful, rain most of the day on Saturday and on Sunday morning. The Exmoor Gold in the buffet was some compensation though. Roll on summer!

The first WSR Mixed Traffic Weekend, on 16th and 17th June, was themed on the changeover years on the Western Region of British Railways in the mid 1960s with steam and diesel trains typical of the era.

A few pictures of my first trip trip to the West Somerset Railway on 25th August 1999. I stayed in the Youth Hostel next to Crowcombe Heathfield Station and it rained quite a bit!
